Guitar - Finger plucking or chord strumming?

There are two parts that make up the guitar component of this song - one more melodius and finger plucked, the other sparsely strummed chords.

Half the group will learn the first guitar part (finger plucking), and the second part (chords). Use the buttons bellow to navigate between the parts.

Guitar 1 (Finger Plucking)

Since we are all at different ability levels on the guitar, there are different scaled levels of the guitar part so that you can achieve the end goal but still challenge yourself at the same time. Choose which level best suits your skill level, however if you accomplish one level before we are ready to bring the whole song together, either keep practicing and refining it or give the level up a try.

Choose your level:

Guitar 2 (Chord Strumming)

For Guitar 2, we will be strumming chords throughout different sections of the song. We will do this in two different ways; look to the coming together tab to see when and where we change in the song.

These are the chords we will be playing:

We will play these chords in this order, playing each chord for 2 bars of 4 beats. We repeat this chord progression throughout the song.

READING CHORD DIAGRAMS:

Chord diagrams show you where to place your fingers to sound a particular chord. The vertical lines represent the strings of the guitar, starting with the lowest (in pitch) sing on the left, up to the highest string on the right. Above the vertical lines, the X tells you not to play the string, whereas the O tells you to strum the open string. The horizontal lines represent the frets on the guitar, and the filled in circles show you which fret to press down.

Strumming Pattern:

In the verse (rapped), we start by strumming the chords once for each time we change chord.

If you are new to playing guitar, you can continue doing this for the whole song.

However, if this is not difficult for you, we will change the strumming in the chorus to what is written below:
